If you’re in the mood for a hot dog experience that’s as old-school as Raleigh itself, look no further than Roast Grill. Located at 7 S. West Street, this no-frills joint has been serving up “grill-blackened, southern style” hot dogs since 1940. Expect no ketchup, no fries, and definitely no sweet tea. What you will get are charred dogs piled high with chili, onions or slaw, and a squirt of mustard—just as it should be. Bonus: a free Tootsie Roll if you're nice (and a slice of baklava if you’re really nice). No fuss, just great food. Just don’t forget: it’s cash only!
Not sponsored. We just really love hot dogs with no frills.
